KARAOKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010 Heats every Fri & Sat from 16th April |

| Finally, a Karaoke World Championships venue in Macarthur! Singers in Macarthur now have the chance to strut their stuff at the Karaoke World Championships 2010 in Moscow later this year. The Wizard of Oz Funland, Leumeah, has been selected as an official participating Karaoke World Championship venue this year. The heats run from April 16th to May 29th. “We see it as a great opportunity to re-enforce our mission to encourage the local performing arts community”, say Brian & Christerine Laul, the Funland’s directors. “It’s great to be able to give our singers the chance to sing to the world!” B&B Masters Enterprises, the official Australian KWC partner, has declared that apart from $50,000 cash and prizes to be won, a recording deal with IVK Music Finland awaits the lucky singer. The Wizard of Oz Show and the KWC have a rather quaint connection. When the Lauls trained an unknown talent, Dina Bit-David to play Dorothy in their internationally-acclaimed show’s seasons at Sydney’s Seymour Centre, little did they imagine that she would be crowned the Australian champ last year. Dina represented Australia at the KWC Finland finals.  Only recently, the Wizard of Oz Funland launched its weekend family Karaoke evenings every Friday & Saturday from 5-9pm. With an all-you-can-eat Buffet (BYO), putt-putt golf, games and lots of activities for the kids, the cost per adult is $22 and $15 per child. “We did this in response to our patrons repeatedloy telling us that there isn’t any place in Macarthur where a family that likes to sing and yet have a good dinner out can go… where both parents and children can enjoy a clean, entertaining evening out together”, Christerine says. The KWC event is open to all patrons of the Funland on these evenings who are over 18 years of age. Local singing sensations will vie for trophies, certificates for all heat winners and a crack at the State Finals. If successful, they win airfare and weekend accommodation packages to contest the Australian Finals on the Gold Coast plus a Club Crocodile Airlie Beach Holiday and lots of goodies.
